Painting services for your home or property

Interior painting

Refresh a room, repaint worn walls, or finish repaired areas. Specify walls, ceilings, or both, and mention accent colors, high ceilings, or furniture that affects access.

Exterior painting

Describe the exterior surfaces you want painted, their material, and their condition. Height, exposure, peeling coatings, and weather all affect preparation and scheduling.

Doors and trim

Include interior doors, an entry door, baseboards, or door casing with your request. Specify the number of doors, whether both sides need paint, and which trim is included.

For a rental turnover or several rooms, list each area and your deadline. A clear scope helps coordinate painting with other property maintenance and repair work.

Address the surface before the color

Paint changes the appearance of a surface, but it does not repair loose material, damaged drywall, or deteriorated trim. Preparation should match the surface and its existing coating.

  1. Review the condition. Identify holes, cracks, peeling paint, stains, or damaged wood. Mention leaks and recurring problems before finishing is planned.
  2. Define the repairs. Include drywall patching and texture repairs or carpentry and trim work where needed. Resolve the cause of moisture damage before painting over the area.
  3. Prepare for the coating. Cleaning, surface preparation, and primer needs depend on the material, existing finish, and chosen paint. Work-area protection and access should be agreed before the job starts.

For exterior work, the surface needs to be sound and dry before coating. Sherwin-Williams's surface preparation guidance explains why the condition underneath the paint matters.

How much does painting cost?

Pricing depends on the surfaces, preparation, access, and finish. A room with sound walls has a different scope from one needing patching, ceiling work, doors, and trim. Request a free estimate for the areas you want painted.

  • Area and access: room sizes, ceiling height, exterior surfaces, and obstacles.
  • Surface condition: repairs, stains, loose coatings, and preparation needs.
  • Color and product: existing and new colors, sheen, primer requirements, and the coating needed for coverage.
  • Project scope: walls, ceilings, doors, trim, materials, protection, and cleanup.

Confirm which surfaces and repairs the estimate includes, who supplies the paint, and the planned primer and finish coats. Mention any furniture moving or access arrangements that need to be part of the job.

Choose the color and finish for the surface

Sheen is how much shine the finish has. Lower-sheen finishes can soften the appearance of small surface imperfections; glossier finishes reflect more light and can make those imperfections more noticeable. Cleaning needs and the particular paint product matter too.

Walls, ceilings, and frequently handled doors may need different products or finishes. Share your preferred color, the way the room is used, and any existing paint information. View color samples in the space under its normal lighting before settling on a color.

For a new door, check its material and manufacturer's finishing instructions. If the door rubs or does not close properly, include door adjustment or repair before painting. Extra paint will not fix a poor fit.

Plan around drying time and Orlando weather

Exterior painting needs a suitable weather window. Rain, damp surfaces, humidity, and surface temperature affect when a coating can be applied and how it dries. Scheduling should follow the selected product's requirements, including the time needed before rain exposure.

Inside, allow for preparation, drying between coats, ventilation, and access to the room. Paint that feels dry may still be curing, meaning it has not reached its full hardness. Confirm when you can close painted doors, move furniture back, or clean the surface. Benjamin Moore explains how closing freshly painted surfaces too soon can cause sticking.

Interior and exterior painting questions

Can you touch up paint instead of repainting the whole wall?

Touch-ups may suit small areas, but matching depends on the original paint, sheen, texture, and age. Keep leftover paint or its label available. If a patch remains visible, painting the full wall from corner to corner may give a more consistent finish.

Can I provide my own paint?

Tell us the brand, product, color, sheen, and quantity you have before scheduling. The paint needs to suit the surface and project; confirm material arrangements as part of the estimate.

Are drywall repairs, doors, and trim included?

Include them in your request. Wall painting does not automatically include ceilings, doors, trim, or repairs. Listing each surface helps establish what the finished job will cover.

How should I prepare the space?

Remove small and fragile items near the work area, identify furniture that needs moving, and arrange access. Mention pets, occupied rooms, and any hours when work cannot take place. For exterior work, provide access around the surfaces being painted.
